While speaking in an interview with BBC, Nigerian Prophetic-Apostolic pastor, and the founder of Latter Rain Assembly in Lagos, Pastor Tunde Bakare in on the controversial debate of “Tithing” and shared his opinion on the tithe matter.
The influential cleric stressed that tithing is not compulsory and reiterated that the practice is not mandated and people should feel free to practice what they choose to believe in.
He said: “There’s no gun pointed at anyone, mandating them to pay tithe. Anyone who believes in paying tithe should do so and whoever doesn’t can leave it. It’s not compulsory.”
His stance is similar to that of Daddy Freeze whose argument is that such practice is enriching pastors as opposed to being a commitment made to God by every Christian believer.
Pastor Bakare also hammered that: “Every church where the pastors are getting fatter while the congregation is getting lean, God will judge them all.”
