Toni Payne Narrates – AY Came Back To Beg Olamide After Underrating Him When He Was Still Upcoming”
Former 9ice wife and talent manager Toni Payne narrates how Ay came to beg Olamide when he was still upcoming.
In a lengthy post, Toni revealed that AY rejected a request for Olamide to perform at his show. However, after Olamide became a big artiste, AY later asked for a favor. She wrote: “Lol. I was speaking to a friend today and it reminded me of one story when I was managing Olamide. I stopped speaking to comedian AY cos of this incident and honesty till today, I’m glad I did cos I don’t like people with that sort of character. So me and AY used to be cool, I’d done favors for him in the past, no big deal. When Olamide was coming upcoming, I decided to as cash in a favor and ask if Olamide could perform at his show even if its for a minute. Omo, see ela.
The man refused to give the boy a chance. It pained me ehn. I took the L and Lamtented for weeks. Lmao! No wahala, we sha kept it pushing. Anyways fast forward to the next year, Olamide had started doing well and guess who conveniently needed a favor, and wanted Olamide to perform? Oga comedian. This is the same guy that turned Ola down cos he wasn’t big now looking for “friend of the house” performance.
See ehn, it’s okay to turn him down, nothing is by force but don’t come back looking for a favor from that same person you underrated. It makes you look like a user. IMO! I told Cabasa he must pay Cabasa as per man of God, said to just free him and I had to respect that. Left to me, lol.. I would have charged him that day and at double at rate. glory be to God sha cos if ,man na God
See ehn.. no one born of man can stop anything God has planned for you. I’m always proud when I see Olamide thriving cos the road was fucking hard. I knew his talent couldn’t be hidden for so long so all nah time. Lemme not talk of the day one boy carried him and Gabroil Afolayan to I think Ogin state and I showed that one that, emi Osha, on my watch, no one I’m managing is to be messed with.
In contrast, big shalla to Mr Seye Kehinde of city people. He was always a good man who never looked down on any of my artsoes. he would say, eh Toni, sha bring them for interview or give them as much stage time as he could.. he never for once said ehn no one knows the so he cant. Another guy is TJ of soundcity ..man ran me ads for free for one of our launch events and I didn’t experrit..and my bro Mr Biodun of Alakada mag even used his money to print goodie bags for Olas first listening party as a surprise..just to say, there are lots of good people in that industry.
in life, no one owes us anything but at the same time, if you did not believe in somebody don’t expect shit from them later in life. just stick to your belief or get ready to pay cool cash., It’s different if you have never heard of them before they blew and support them after cos you are just hearing. but now to start stanning someone who has always been in your face only because they blew is irritating abeg..like, what changed? the industry has many users oo but plenty of good people as well who just wanna see a good talent thrive.,. still glad I left through cos healthy, photography is bae.
