Why I Prioritize Education and Youth Empowerment as Constituency Projects – Senator Salisu
Senator Salisu has shed light on the motivation behind his consistent focus on education and youth empowerment as the core of his constituency projects, stressing that sustainable development begins with investing in people rather than short-term interventions.
Speaking on his legislative priorities, the lawmaker noted that education remains the strongest tool for breaking cycles of poverty and underdevelopment, particularly in underserved communities. According to him, empowering young people with quality education and practical skills creates long-lasting impact that goes beyond political tenures.
Senator Salisu explained that many of the challenges facing Nigerian youths — including unemployment, insecurity, and social vices — can be traced back to limited access to education and opportunities. By funding school renovations, providing learning materials, offering scholarships, and supporting vocational training centres, he believes communities can experience meaningful transformation.
“Young people are Nigeria’s greatest asset,” the senator said, adding that when youths are equipped with relevant skills and knowledge, they become contributors to national growth rather than dependents on government support.
He also emphasized that youth empowerment initiatives such as entrepreneurship training, digital skills programs, and small business support help reduce unemployment while encouraging innovation and self-reliance. According to him, these initiatives not only create jobs but also stimulate local economies.
Senator Salisu reaffirmed his commitment to policies and projects that focus on human capital development, stating that education and youth empowerment remain the most effective pathways to building a prosperous and stable society.
