Why I’ve been homeless for six years – Jumoke George
Jumoke George, a veteran actor, has talked candidly about her battles with homelessness, illness, and family issues.
She disclosed that she has been living in a church for the past six years after being forced to leave her apartment owing to unaffordable rent in a sad interview on the TalkToB show.
“There are some things that are embarrassing to say, but I have no choice at this point,” she stated. I wish to express myself. Even if I work, I don’t always get hired.
It may occur once every three to four months at times. That was before to my illness. I was asked to a set, but I was unable to attend after getting sick. I was paid since last year, and since I was unaware that I would become ill, I used the funds for medical care. To reimburse the individual, I had to take out a loan.
“I moved, but I was unable to work there. My health required them to bring me back. I’ve completed a number of tests. I was instructed to complete further tasks, which will cost roughly N400,000. I have no idea where to find the funds.
“I was no longer able to pay the hefty rent for the residence. I pleaded with the landlord to let me go, but what can I do?
She also said that because she felt humiliated, the church leader had given her a little place to dwell, which she had to keep hidden from many people.
Daddy ordered me to bring my belongings to a place he got for me, but it was too small to even fit them, so I had to leave my luggage with other people, George said. The things I had spent my entire life working for were simply being spoilt.
The room is open to everyone in the church. Only in Daddy’s downstairs living room, where they have gatherings like Harvest, did I greet people.
I’ve been residing in the church for roughly half a century. She pointed to a spot on the church floor and added, “This is where I put my mattress to sleep.”
“Mummy Church usually provides me with stuff to eat. About two years ago, Daddy passed away, and Mummy Church has been making an effort as well. She boils herbs and buys drugs for me.
My residence has been in the church. It was embarrassing for me to speak up. I felt ashamed.
Jumoke revealed that she struggled to pay for medical care after her health started to worsen early this year, forcing her to abandon performing engagements.
The actress also revealed that she has been using the little money she receives to look for her 41-year-old first child, Adeola, who has been missing for four years.
“My first child, Adeola, has been missing,” she stated. For the last four years, I have been trying to find her. I spent what little money I had from my job trying to find her.
She suggested I should forgive her after contacting me one day with an odd number and I didn’t know where she was from. She told me to just forgive her as she had no idea where her adventure would take her when I questioned where she was. According to her, several of her friends advised her that they should move to a particular nation—which she did not name—in search of better opportunities, but when they arrived, they encountered a different circumstance.
I haven’t heard anything from her since. as they split up when the kids were smaller, I’m the one looking after her kids as I haven’t seen their father. I don’t know where to look for him, I don’t know his town, and I don’t have his phone. She was born in 1984, and on May 1st of this year, she turned 41. At least we could manage together if she were here.
Jumoke added that her son Ife had borrowed around N2 million to pay for her maintenance and medical care.
“Ife has been helping me as well. He has made an effort. He has so much debt because of me.
In order to transfer to me, he has borrowed a lot. He has borrowed over N2 million on my behalf. I’m concerned for him. Do not let them fire him from his job.
Despite his meager pay, he has been making an effort to look after me. He’s also been looking for his sister nonstop. Pain is not good.
“I am exhausted,” she remarked, requesting prayers. As a believer, I’ve done my best. Despite my health issues, I have been praying and fasting. Once more, I’m not sure if it’s spiritual or not.
“Mothers around the world, please pray for me. Please offer up prayers for me. I’m in need of prayers. Nobody’s life has ever been damaged by me. I’m exhausted and can’t take it any longer. A whole child is gone, along with the house and everything else. It hurts. Please offer up prayers for me.
