Yaya Toure Reveals Why There Is So Much Racism In Football
Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure believes racism in soccer is getting worse due to the fact “lovers are more silly than before”. In current months there have been some of incidents at matches and the trend shows no signs of declining. In November, Brescia’s Mario Balotelli – a former team-mate of Toure at City – called fanatics who shouted racist abuse at him “small-minded” and “imbeciles” while Cagliari enthusiasts made monkey noises towards Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku earlier in the season. This month Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport changed into criticised for the headline ‘Black Friday’ alongside pics of Roma defender Chris Smalling and Lukaku. But the problem isn’t limited to Italy, with a man arrested after this month’s Manchester derby for allegedly making a racist gesture.
Toure has spoken with FIFA approximately what can be done but knows there’s no quick fix. “I’ve had a talk with FIFA due to the fact this is some thing very essential which we’ve got to observe carefully,” said the former Ivory Coast international. “I know it will be hard due to the fact the way to win this case goes to be very long. “Fans, people, now are more stupid than before. “Of course it is shocking due to the fact we’re in 2019. In 2020, 2025 we’ve got the children coming through – what are we going to do? You can’t keep like that.”
