Adeleke Denies Spending N3.1 Billion on Foreign Trips
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has strongly denied allegations that his administration spent N3.1 billion on foreign trips, describing the claims as misleading and politically motivated.
The denial comes in response to a report making the rounds, suggesting that the governor’s office incurred a whopping N3.1 billion in expenses on international travels within a fiscal year. Adeleke, through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, clarified that the figures quoted were either misinterpreted or deliberately twisted to create a negative narrative around his government.
According to the statement, “No such amount was spent on foreign trips by the Governor or any office of the state government. The figure is a gross misrepresentation of budgetary provisions and not actual expenditure. Governor Adeleke has remained prudent and transparent in the management of state resources.”
The administration maintained that Adeleke’s foreign travels have all been centered on attracting investments, partnerships, and grants beneficial to the people of Osun State. It emphasized that each trip was approved through proper channels and often sponsored by host organizations or development partners.
Reacting further, the governor urged the public to disregard the false claims and assured citizens of his commitment to accountability and people-driven governance. He also called on opposition figures to avoid spreading disinformation and instead engage in constructive criticism.
This development has stirred debates across political and civic circles, with many urging for greater clarity in state budgeting and more frequent public disclosures to curb speculation and misinformation.
