Uba Sani Denies Being El-Rufai’s Mentee, Names Tinubu and Gani Fawehinmi as True Influences
Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has dismissed claims that he is a political mentee of former governor Nasir El-Rufai, clarifying that his true sources of inspiration come from other notable figures.
Speaking during a recent interaction, Sani emphasized that while he respects El-Rufai’s political journey, he does not consider himself a product of his mentorship. Instead, the governor revealed that his political philosophy and activism were deeply shaped by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
According to Sani, Tinubu’s political strategy and Gani’s dogged fight for justice and human rights molded his approach to leadership. He described both men as “towering influences” who laid the foundation for his growth in activism and politics.
The clarification comes amid public debates linking Sani’s rise to El-Rufai’s political structure. However, the governor insists that his path was charted long before, drawing strength from the principles of progressive governance and social justice.
This revelation has sparked mixed reactions, with some analysts noting that the statement could reshape political alignments in Kaduna and beyond.
