“It’s Depressing to See Nigerians Still Fighting Over Religion and Tribe” – Falz Speaks Out

Popular Nigerian rapper and human rights activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has expressed his disappointment over the continuous division among Nigerians along religious and tribal lines.

The multi-award-winning artist, known for using his platform to speak on social and political issues, said it was heartbreaking and depressing to see that in 2025, Nigerians are still engaging in ethnic and religious conflicts instead of working together for progress.

Speaking during a recent media chat, Falz stated that despite decades of struggle for democracy and equality, Nigerians still allow religion and ethnicity to fuel hatred and disunity.

“It’s truly depressing that after everything we’ve been through as a nation, people still fight each other over religion and tribe. We are supposed to be united by our shared struggles, not divided by them,” Falz said.

The “This Is Nigeria” crooner, who has consistently been at the forefront of youth activism, urged Nigerians to focus on accountability, leadership, and national development rather than petty differences that only set the country backward.

He emphasized that tribalism and religious intolerance have long been tools used by politicians to divide citizens and maintain control, adding that true progress can only come through unity and collective action.

Falz’s statement has since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians praising him for once again speaking truth to power and using his influence to promote peace and awareness.

Over the years, the rapper has become a voice for social justice, championing movements like #EndSARS and calling out government inefficiencies. His recent remarks continue his pattern of using music and public commentary to drive national consciousness.

“Until we stop seeing ourselves as different because of tribe or religion, we can’t achieve the Nigeria we all dream of,” Falz concluded.
