Gran Fondo Ogbomoso Shuts Down Oyo State In A Dazzling Display Of Speed, Style And Sporting Excellence
Ogbomoso, Oyo State, came alive in spectacular fashion on December 18, 2025, as hundreds of cyclists flooded the city for the much-talked-about Annual Gran Fondo Ogbomoso, an event that has since been described as one of the most glamorous and professionally executed cycling races in Nigeria’s recent history.
From the early hours of the morning, the Iseyin–Fapote–Ogbomoso Road transformed into a vibrant corridor of color, motion, and adrenaline as cyclists, clad in striking jerseys, rolled out under cheers from excited spectators. The city buzzed with energy, music, camera flashes, and the unmistakable hum of racing wheels slicing through the air.
The event, which trended nationwide on Nigeria’s X, drew participants from across the country and overseas, with cyclists aged 14 to 80 competing across 80km, 100km, and 160km routes. Each category delivered intense action, dramatic sprints, and endurance-driven performances that kept spectators glued from start to finish.
Convener Adebayo Majolagbe was widely praised for delivering a world-class experience that blended sport, community, and culture.
