Four Die, 13 Injured as Truck Rams Into Bus in Lagos

At least four people have died following a fatal road accident involving a truck and a commercial bus on Alaro City Bridge, inward T-Junction, in the Epe area of Lagos State.

The crash occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, leaving several passengers injured and trapped in the wreckage.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the truck rammed into a fully loaded commercial bus while both vehicles were on the bridge. The collision caused severe damage, prompting an emergency rescue operation involving traffic officials and other response agencies.

LASTMA disclosed that the truck driver sustained severe injuries, including the traumatic severance of both legs, which became trapped in the wreckage.

The agency said four people, including the commercial bus driver, died in the crash, while 13 other passengers sustained critical injuries.

Operatives of LASTMA and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reportedly worked together to evacuate victims and coordinate emergency assistance at the scene.

The Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) transported the injured passengers to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment.

Security personnel from the Epe Police Division also assisted with the rescue operation, secured the scene and helped ensure that emergency workers could carry out their duties.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the families of those who died and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.

The accident has renewed concerns about road safety, particularly on bridges and narrow roads where reckless driving can have devastating consequences.

LASTMA urged motorists to observe speed limits, maintain safe distances and avoid dangerous driving manoeuvres. It also stressed the importance of ensuring that vehicles are mechanically sound before embarking on journeys.

Authorities continue to encourage drivers to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations to reduce the risk of preventable accidents.

In a separate report on Wednesday, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said another container truck overturned onto an interstate Toyota Hiace bus at Berger Bridge, inward Eleko, along the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway.

LASEMA reported four deaths and six injuries in that incident, while Channels Television reported 16 injured victims. The differing figures may reflect separate updates or differences in reporting, and the final casualty count should be confirmed by the relevant authorities.

The incidents have again highlighted the dangers posed by speeding and heavy-duty vehicles on Lagos roads, with authorities urging motorists to prioritise safety and responsible driving.
