
Nollywood Actor Emeka Ike Declares Interest in House of Representatives Seat
Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has officially declared interest in contesting for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, the actor announced his intention to run for the Abuja Municipal Area Council/Bwari Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on his political ambition, Emeka Ike reportedly said his goal is to contribute to building a better political structure capable of improving governance and bringing development closer to the people.
The actor explained that after years of entertaining Nigerians through Nollywood, he now wants to serve the public through active participation in governance and policymaking.
A video circulating online reportedly showed the actor receiving his nomination form from party officials, marking the formal beginning of his political campaign.
This is not Emeka Ike’s first attempt at elective office. Reports indicate that he previously contested for a House of Representatives seat in 2018 under the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Imo State.
His declaration has generated reactions across social media, with fans and political observers discussing the increasing number of entertainers joining active politics ahead of the next election cycle.
The development also adds to the growing list of Nigerian celebrities showing interest in political offices as preparations for the 2027 elections continue across the country.
