Obasanjo Visits Adeleke After Election Victory, Urges Him to Sustain Good Governance
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a congratulatory visit to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the state’s governorship election.
Obasanjo visited Adeleke’s country home in Ede, where he congratulated the governor on securing another term in office and prayed for continued success in his administration.
During the visit, the former president urged Adeleke to remain focused on good governance and continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State.
“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo charged the governor.
The visit reportedly had a celebratory atmosphere, with Obasanjo and Adeleke sharing dance steps as they celebrated the governor’s electoral victory.
Adeleke expressed appreciation for the former president’s surprise visit and thanked God and the people of Osun State for the election victory.
The governor also promised to remain committed to serving the people and not disappoint those who supported his re-election.
Adeleke was declared the winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji. According to the final results, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji secured 444,815 votes, giving Adeleke a margin of 66,252 votes.
The governor’s re-election marks another four-year term at the helm of affairs in Osun State, with attention now shifting toward how his administration will build on its first-term record.
Obasanjo’s message comes at the beginning of Adeleke’s renewed mandate, with the former president emphasising the importance of focusing on the needs and welfare of Osun residents.
Beyond celebrating the election result, the visit served as a reminder that electoral victory comes with the responsibility to deliver effective governance to the electorate.
Adeleke is now expected to focus on consolidating his administration’s programmes while addressing the developmental needs of the state.
