Oyebanji, Deputy, Receives Certificates of Return from INEC After Ekiti Election Victory
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, have officially received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following their victory in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.
The presentation of the certificates marks the formal confirmation of their re-election after INEC declared Oyebanji the winner of the June 2026 governorship poll. According to the electoral body, the governor secured a decisive victory, polling 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challengers.
The ceremony, held at the INEC office in Ado-Ekiti, was attended by party leaders, government officials, supporters, and other stakeholders who gathered to witness the official handover of the certificates.
Speaking after receiving the certificate, Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the people of Ekiti State for renewing their mandate and confidence in his administration. He pledged to continue implementing policies aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic development across the state.
The governor also commended INEC, security agencies, and election officials for their roles in ensuring the successful conduct of the election. He reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance and promised to work for the benefit of all residents regardless of political affiliation.
For her part, Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye thanked supporters and assured citizens that the administration would remain focused on delivering democratic dividends throughout its new term.
The issuance of the Certificates of Return concludes a key phase of the electoral process and paves the way for the continuation of the Oyebanji administration in Ekiti State. Political observers have described the victory as a strong endorsement of the governor’s first-term performance and development agenda.
As celebrations continue among supporters of the ruling party, attention is now expected to shift toward the implementation of campaign promises and the administration’s plans for the state’s next four years.
