Tackle bad governance with PVC – Sanwo-Olu’s aide

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Education, Tokunbo Wahab, has told students to use their Permanent Voter Cards to tackle poverty, hunger, and bad governance.

Wahab was quoted in a statement signed by his office while sensitising students of Lagos State University, Ojo, and Lagos State University of Education, Ijanikin, on PVC registration and collection.

He, thereby, advised students to register, collect their PVCs and participate in the electoral process and nation-building.

Wahab said, ‘‘I urge you, students, to take advantage of having the registration centres on your campuses to register and collect your PVCs. Always remember that your PVC is the major weapon with which you can fight hunger and poverty while it can be used as well to sustain good governance.’’

‘‘Since youths/students represent about 53.5% of the total population of the country, there is the need to carry them along and give them adequate orientation and enlightenment on leadership role and the need to participate in the electoral process towards choosing a God-fearing leader that is committed to infrastructure development and good governance.’’

Wahab commended the Managements of LASU and LASUED for maintaining absolute peace on their campuses.

In her remarks, the acting Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University of Education, Ijanikin Campus, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, stated that the sensitisation of students for PVC collection would give them the opportunity to perform their civic responsibility as citizens of the country.
