TikToker Mirabel’s Rape Allegation Was Fabricated, Says Ogun State Ministry of Justice
The Ogun State Ministry of Justice has stated that the rape allegation made by TikToker Mirabel, whose real name is Nsikak Abigail Emem, was false and deliberately fabricated. The announcement follows months of investigations into claims that sparked widespread reactions on social media earlier this year.
According to the Ogun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, findings from relevant authorities, as well as admissions reportedly made by Mirabel herself, established that the allegation lacked factual basis. The ministry said there was no offender to apprehend or prosecute because the reported incident did not occur.
Mirabel had earlier alleged that unknown individuals invaded her residence in Ogijo, Ogun State, and sexually assaulted her. The claims went viral, generating public outrage, support campaigns, and widespread discussion about sexual violence and victim protection.
However, following extensive investigations, authorities concluded that the allegation was fabricated. The Ministry of Justice stated that the circumstances of the case led officials to prioritize rehabilitation over criminal prosecution.
As part of that decision, Mirabel was placed under the care of the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, where she has reportedly been receiving psychosocial and rehabilitative support. The Attorney-General disclosed that periodic reports indicate she has responded positively to the programme and is currently preparing for examinations aimed at furthering her education.
The case attracted significant national attention due to the serious nature of the allegations and the public conversations that followed. Officials emphasized that while allegations of sexual assault must always be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated, conclusions should ultimately be guided by evidence and due process.
The ministry’s update effectively brings closure to one of the most widely discussed social media controversies in recent months, while highlighting the importance of responsible reporting, proper investigation, and support for individuals facing personal challenges.
