Two female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye in Ogun state, who were abducted by gunmen from the institution, have regained their freedom on Tuesday.

It would be recalled that on Sunday evening, the attackers stormed Igbole Aibo Quarter area of Ayetoro, shooting indiscriminately.

The 300-level students, Adeyemo Precious of Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management and Oyefule Abiola of Department of Agricultural Economics, were said to have been kidnapped in front of their hostel at Olowu area of Ayetoro.

It was gathered that the gunmen captured and abducted the two students who were said to be returning home at the time.

In latest development, police authorities in Ogun State, according to ChannelsTV  confirmed the release of the students on Tuesday night.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, noted that the ladies returned unhurt.

He said the victims who have spent two nights in the custody of their abductors would be reunited with their families thereafter.

When asked if any money was paid to secure their release, the command’s spokesman stated that no ransom was paid, to the best of his knowledge.
