How I Met My Wife 22 Years Ago – Actor Odunlade Adekola
Popular Nollywood actor Odunlade Adekola has celebrated his wife, Deaconess Ruth Abosede Adekola, on her birthday, reflecting on how their love story began more than two decades ago.
The Yoruba movie star shared beautiful pictures of his wife on Instagram on Monday, November 2, 2026, alongside a heartfelt message recalling the moment he gathered the courage to approach her.
According to Odunlade, he first expressed his interest in making her his partner about 22 years ago.
Recounting their first encounter, the actor revealed that he approached Ruth directly and told her he saw something special in her.
He wrote:
“I saw Madam Ruth Abosede Adekola about 22 years ago! I walked up to her and said, ‘My friend! I see what I want in you, can you be mine?’”
The actor also disclosed that he became fully engaged to her 20 years ago, describing her affectionately as the “MOTHER of our KINGS.”
Beyond recounting how they met, Odunlade used the birthday celebration to reaffirm his love and appreciation for his wife.
Describing Ruth as his number one supporter, he declared:
“I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER MY NUMBER ONE FAN.”
He also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon their home and wished her a joyful birthday.
“God will continue to bless your home. Wa je ounje omo ooooo, Amin. Happy birthday to you, my friend,” he added.
Odunlade and Ruth’s relationship dates back more than two decades, before the actor became one of the most recognisable faces in the Yoruba movie industry.
In an earlier interview, Ruth revealed that they attended the same Christ Apostolic Church in Sabo, Abeokuta, where their friendship developed during a church programme.
She explained that although Odunlade initially approached her with marriage intentions, she was hesitant because of the demands of his acting career.
However, their relationship eventually grew, leading to marriage in 2003.
The couple have since built a family together, with Odunlade frequently acknowledging his wife’s support throughout his career.
The actor’s birthday tribute has attracted attention from fans and followers, many of whom have praised his public expression of love and appreciation for his wife.
