INEC Confirms Readiness After Successful Ekiti BVAS Mock Exercise
The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed its readiness for upcoming electoral activities following a successful mock exercise involving the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in Ekiti State.
The exercise, which was carried out in selected polling units across the state, was designed to test the functionality, efficiency, and reliability of the BVAS technology ahead of future elections.
INEC officials stated that the simulation recorded a largely positive outcome, with improved voter accreditation processes and minimal technical challenges compared to previous exercises.
According to the commission, the BVAS system continues to play a key role in enhancing transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s electoral process by ensuring accurate voter verification and reducing electoral irregularities.
The exercise also allowed electoral officers to assess logistical arrangements, response times, and system performance under real-time conditions.
INEC emphasized that feedback from the mock exercise will be used to further fine-tune operational procedures and address any identified gaps before the next major election.
Stakeholders and election observers have also welcomed the development, noting that continuous testing of electoral technology is essential for strengthening public confidence in the democratic process.
The commission reiterated its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, assuring Nigerians that preparations are ongoing to ensure smooth electoral operations nationwide.
As preparations continue, attention is expected to remain on how effectively the BVAS system performs during actual elections, especially in high-turnout polling units.
