Ogogo’s Daughter Debunks Childbirth Rumour Amid Family Mourning
The family of late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked reports circulating online that his daughter, Shakirat “Kira” Taiwo, recently welcomed a baby boy.
The rumour surfaced on social media days after Ogogo’s death and burial, with a viral video describing the alleged newborn as “My Daddy’s Carbon Copy.” The timing of the claim generated significant reactions online.
Ogogo’s other daughter, Haleemah “Lima” Taiwo, issued a disclaimer on Instagram, asking the public to disregard the report.
She explained that the family had received numerous calls and messages from friends and relatives seeking clarification about the alleged childbirth.
According to Lima, the claim that her sister had given birth is not true. She also appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy while they mourn their father.
The report was accompanied by photographs and a short video presented as evidence that Kira had welcomed a newborn shortly after Ogogo’s burial.
However, fact-checking reports found that the circulating material appears to have been old footage, with some reports tracing the images to Kira’s earlier childbirth in February 2024, when Ogogo was still alive.
This has raised concerns about old celebrity content being recycled and presented as breaking news simply because it attracts attention.
The controversy comes as the Taiwo family continues to mourn Ogogo, who died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, following a battle with stage-four cancer.
He was buried the following day in Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The family has since asked members of the public, fans and colleagues to give them privacy and avoid spreading unverified information during the mourning period.
The incident highlights the dangers of sharing viral entertainment stories without checking their original source or date.
While the claim initially generated emotional reactions because of its timing, the family has now made its position clear: there was no recent childbirth announcement involving Kira Taiwo.
